Assessment of skills is an obligatory part of the assessment program for medical students at the University of Maastricht. Every year a so-called 'multiple station examination' is organized for students of year 1 - 4 and year 6. The multiple station examination consists of a variable number of stations ( 6 to 10). In each station the student is given a different task to perform for example a history, a physical examination or to generate a diagnosis. The duration of a station is variable, from 10 to 30 minutes. The total assessment-time is 1,5 hour (first year) to 3 hours (final year). In every station an observer is present who will score the student with a checklist. Observers are trained in filling in these checklists a few days before the exmination will take place. In this way about 200 students can be assessed
