Structure of the programme of Knowledge Engineering

A Transnational Programme

The programme is partly situated in Belgium and partly in the Netherlands.

  • The first two years students can follow the programme in Belgium (at the Limburg University at Diepenbeek) as well as in the Netherlands (at Maastricht University).
  • The last two years of the programme are for the greatest part to be followed in Belgium (at the School of Knowledge Engineering and Informatics at Diepenbeek).

Educational models

  • The first two Belgian years mainly consists of courses and tutorials. The year is divided in trimesters.
  • The Dutch route starts at Maastricht University.
The programme consists of projects, courses and tutorials, grouped together in blocks according to the adapted Aalborg model (Project Oriented Education).
    A year has four blocks.
  • The last two years are planned with projects, courses and tutorials again according to the adapted Aalborg model (Project Oriented Education).
The year is divided in trimesters.
The third year will start with a month at (probably) Baylor University (Texas, U.S.A.).
The fourth year should be completed with a thesis.
