“Entrepreneurship for the Future”

‘Is your business ready for the future’? This was the central question addressed to eighty entrepreneurs participating in the entrepreneurs meeting “Entrepreneurship for the Future” organized by the SME Portal Maastricht University.  A relevant question since the influence of society on entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important and companies have to develop adequate strategies for their company’s survival.

After an interactive network lunch Dr. Claudia van Oppen, manager of the SME Portal Maastricht University, welcomed all participants. Followed, by an opening lecture by André Postma, vice president of the Executive Board of Maastricht University, who presented his vision on trends in innovation and compared the regional and national level of innovation. Moreover, he emphasized the crucial role SME companies have in new developments and innovation. 

After the plenary opening, the participants attended one out of four master classes with diverse themes such as New Leadership by prof. dr. Mariëlle Heijltjes and Value Creation through risk management by prof. dr. ir. Joost Pennings.
Following the entrepreneurs meeting most participants attended the official opening of the academic year in Maastricht’s local theatre.
