Forum Maastricht intends to organise an
annual international conference, focusing on topical European
issues. The outcomes of these conferences should contribute
to a better understanding of European citizenship, enhance
the relationship between the European and national parliaments,
as well as co-operation between higher education and research
institutes and industry.
Forum Maastricht is an initiative of the
President of Maastricht University, Dr. Jo Ritzen former
Dutch Minister of Education and Vice-President of the Worldbank.
Forum Maastricht aims to bring together academics, politicians,
businessmen, journalists and representatives of European
society for a broad discussion on urgent European questions.
Forum Maastricht 2004 launched the Dutch Presidency of the
EU, the public debate on the future perspective of enlargement,
the knowledge economy in Europe and the success and failure
of the Lisbon Agenda. In Forum 2005 we want to put the European
Migration and Integration Policies on the agenda, discussing
them from a local, national, European and global perspective.
Forum Maastricht 2005 will take place on 26 and 27 May 2005.
