Dr. Jaroslaw Pietras, Secretary of the
Committee for European Integration.
Mr. Jaroslaw Pietras was appointed the Secretary
of the Committee for European Integration in May 2004 and the Head
of the Office of the Committee for European Integration (OCEI).
Before he held the position of the Under-secretary of State in the
OCEI for over seven years. Since April 2004 he is also a Deputy
Chairman of the European Council of the Council of Ministers.
He has also been a Deputy Chief Negotiator during
Poland's Accession Negotiations to the European Union and Deputy
Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Team for the New Round of Multilateral
WTO Negotiations since 1998. From 1996-97, Mr. Pietras served as
a deputy director of the Department for Co-ordination and Monitoring
of Foreign Assistance and as director of the Department for Co-ordination
and Monitoring of Foreign Assistance of the OCEI. Before joining
the OCEI, he was a director of the Economic Team and a deputy director
of the European Integration Department in the Office of the Council
of Ministers from 1992-1996.
Mr. Pietras received his PhD in economics from the Economic Science
Faculty of the Warsaw University in 1986. He is still an active
lecturer and has a wide range of publications on the EU integration
and a trade in services.
