  Dr. Yrjö Neuvo
Senior Vice President, Technology Advisor, Nokia
Member of the Nokia Group Executive Board

As Senior Vice President and Technology Advisor, Yrjö Neuvo is responsible for shaping the company’s overall technology agenda.
Dr. Neuvo joined Nokia in 1993 after he had gained international recognition as a researcher and professor specialized in digital signal processing. He took the post of Senior Vice President, Nokia Group and was named Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones, Product Creation, a year later. In 1999 he was appointed Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Nokia Mobile Phones. He has been a member of the Nokia Group Executive Board since 1993.
In the course of his academic career, Dr. Neuvo has educated around 30 Ph.D’s, many of whom are working in Nokia today, and he has published over 400 technical articles.
Dr. Neuvo also holds 31 patents.

Dr. Neuvo is a member of over 50 esteemed professional organisations and scientific societies including the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Academiae Europae, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has held various positions in international Research and Technology policy making bodies currently acting as a Chairman in EU’s European Technology Platform for Embedded Systems Working Group.

Dr. Neuvo is Vice Chairman of the Board of Vaisala, Chairman of the Research and Technology Committee of Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers (TT) and Vice Chairman of the National Technology Agency (TEKES).
He earned his doctorate degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. He holds two honorary doctorates.

Mr. Neuvo was born in 1943, in Turku, Finland. He is married and has three children.
