Celebration of DHA - Discovery, Achievement and Challenges for Global Health 40 Years
on
This
meeting will celebrate 40 years of research on the omega-3 fatty
acids, particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Amongst the
invited speakers, several of the pioneers in this field will be
there including Michael Crawford, Nicolas Bazan, Bill Lands,
Rodolfo Brenner, Gene Anderson, Claudio Galli, Andrew Sinclair
and Jean-Marie Bourre. In addition to highlighting significant
biochemical discoveries and clinical achievements involving DHA,
this meeting will have a session on the role of DHA in human
brain evolution. It will also point to the major global
challenge of maintaining brain health in the 21st
century. The Celebration of DHA promises to be a memorable

This meeting is an activity organised by the
International Expert Movement on Health Significance of Fat
Quality of the Diet. More information on this movement can

on Friday the 28th of May from 9.00 hrs to 12.30

New Challenges in
Lipid Nutrition research for infants and children
This discussion based satellite workshop
will take place on the morning of Saturday May 29th, 09.00 hrs -
13.30 hrs in Maastricht. The workshop will address some emerging
areas of scientific endeavour, including the role of dietary
cholesterol and monounsaturated fatty acids in improving the
health outcomes of young children as well as grapple with the
underlying causes of the variation seen in LCPUFA status in
children given the same intervention. It will also deal with
the complex issues of translating the results of clinical trials
into health practice and health policy.

cost will be 50 Euros, to include lunch. Student registration
will be 10 Euros. New Investigator Award winners will be able to
