Jürgen Enders is Professor at the School of Management and Governance and Director of the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. He also serves as one of the leaders of the research program on ‘Governance of Innovation, Technology, Higher Education, and Research’ of the Institute for Governance Studies (IGS) at the University of Twente. He was previously Assistant Professor at the Centre for Research on Higher Education and Work at the University of Kassel, Germany, where he received his doctorate in political science.

His research interests are in the areas of the political sociology of education, science and innovation; the governance and management of higher education, research and knowledge transfer; organizational change in higher education; higher education and the world of work; and the academic profession.

Jürgen Enders is member of the editorial board of the book series ‘Higher Education Dynamics’ and the journal ‚Higher Education’. He served as a member of the board and Secretary of the Consortium of Higher Education Researchers (CHER) and is member of the German Educational Council, of an Advisory Board for the Swiss Science and Technology Council and the Dutch Association of Universities. He serves as a reviewer to the Dutch Research Council and the German Research Council and served as a reviewer to the German Excellence Initiative. Jürgen Enders has spend periods as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, the University of Beijing, China, and the Foundation Nationale de Sciences Politiques in Paris, France. He has written and (co-)edited 12 books and published more than 90 articles in books and journals such as Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, Leviathan, Public Administration, Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia, Scientometrics.

His current projects include investigations supported by the Dutch Research Council and the German Research Council, the German Academe of the Sciences, the European Science Foundation, the European Research Framework Program, the European Commission, and the Ford Foundation.
