Simone is working as a technician since 1988 at the Biochemistry Department of Maastricht University.

The first 10 years she studied the influence of pharmaceutical products on the coagulation system and was involved in the development of the automatic measurement of thrombin generation in plasma.

The next 10 years she developed and performed analysis on the blood-material interface and investigated the interaction between blood platelet activation and the coagulation system.

Since 2009 Simone is active in the screening and characterization of bio-active compounds for treatment of thrombosis and bleeding disorders. Furthermore she is engaged in the expression and characterization of recombinant variants of coagulation proteins.
